Climate 10x Accelerator

In the second half of 2024, our Founder and CEO, Jamin Wood, participated in the UNSW Founders Climate 10x Accelerator. This program aims to boost R&D, drive commercialisation outcomes, and help Australia and the world transition to sustainable recycling and clean energy solutions and systems.

As a climate-focused venture, we joined the program to accelerate our growth, refine our fundraising strategy, and build meaningful connections within the industry. Looking back, the insights and benefits we gained have been invaluable and it has been an incredible opportunity to kickstart the business.  

One of the biggest takeaways was learning how to build and leverage a strong network. The accelerator introduced us to experienced mentors, investors, and like-minded founders, allowing us to create relationships that continue to support our journey. Understanding how to engage with investors effectively was another key lesson. We realised the necessity of maintaining an investor CRM and sending regular updates, ensuring potential backers stay informed and engaged. 

We also learned the importance of corporate hygiene and governance. Having clear financial records, proper documentation, and a structured approach to decision-making not only builds investor confidence but also makes scaling easier. Another critical insight was the need for a dataroom – a well-organised repository of key documents that streamlines due diligence and funding discussions.

Finally, the program emphasised the need to raise funds strategically and maintain a clean cap table. We now understand how cap table complexities can create future challenges and why careful planning is essential to retain control and attract the right investors.

Strengthening Our Foundation

Beyond investment readiness, Climate 10x helped us refine our value chain mapping, allowing us to better understand how to optimise operations and scale effectively. The program also supported us in expanding our team, bringing in key talent to drive our vision forward. With this strong foundation in place, we are now set to begin prototype testing, marking an exciting new phase in our journey.

Thanks to Climate 10x, we’ve refined our strategy and positioned ourselves for long-term success. For any climate tech startup looking to scale, this program is a must.
