Team and Advisory Board Update March 2025
In a rapidly evolving world where climate change is demanding urgent action, Birra Technologies is emerging to decarbonise major industries through net zero methanol. Our vision for green methanol powered industries is coming to life as the team expands, and we build our prototype. We are leveraging innovation, teamwork, and a strong set of principles to develop cutting-edge technology for a greener future.
At the core of Birra is a dynamic team of engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs driven by a shared commitment to environmental sustainability. Our hands-on team is led by our Founder and CEO, Dr Jamin Wood. Jamin works in the office and lab, giving strong direction for the company, acting as a bridge between technical, advisory board, investors and business strategy. He is driven by a passion to support our world to Net Zero, having previously led large teams to deliver complex, high profile projects. In his downtime, he spends his time out in nature, hiking and running, fascinated by the world around us and how so many solutions to our problems are already out there.
Working hard in the lab and developing the prototype is our R&D Chemical Engineer, Braden Fritz. Braden graduated from The University of Queensland (UQ) with a Bachelor and Master of Engineering degree, which he applies every day at Birra. In his free time, he likes to spend time with friends and family (and his pet reptiles). Braden’s main hobbies include exercise, reading and cooking. Working closely with Braden is our Student Engineer, Lucas Hale. Lucas enjoys brewing craft beer with friends – a hobby that combines careful planning and creativity. He also enjoys bike riding to stay active and spending quality time with his family.
We have recently expanded our advisory board, bringing together leaders in the circular economy, catalytic materials, and business management. This diverse range of expertise strengthens the company’s mission to create practical and scalable technology to produce green methanol. We welcome Dr Jingwei Hou and Dr Bernardino Virdis from UQ to the advisory board. Dr Hou has over 15 years’ experience translating research into commercial applications and is an expert in the class of catalysts that Birra is using in its photocatalytic reactors. Dr Virdis brings expert knowledge in urban waste, circular economy, and biotechnology with over 20 years’ experience.
Dr Hou and Dr Virdis join Dr Adrian Zammit and Raymond Siems, seasoned commercial operators at growing innovative companies. Having an advisory board with specialists across a range of different fields allows Birra to view challenges from multiple angles and fuels our ability to innovate and bring real change.
As Birra looks ahead, we are excited by the opportunity to collaborate with such a strong team of individuals, working towards the common goal of a sustainable future.
